Nine people in this ‘Professional Speaking for Migrants’ course in Southland completed their course on 30 October and sat the connected Speech New Zealand exam the following day.
The assessment process is quite rigorous. Examinees give a PowerPoint presentation – speaking without notes, give a social speech, read a passage aloud from a book of their choice, answer questions from the examiner and audience AND perform an impromptu roleplay.
We’re delighted to say that ALL learners have now passed the examination, and seven of the nine with Distinction!
Congratulations everyone! And well done also to ELP’s expert teacher Angela Newell (4th from left in photo), for guiding her class so skillfully toward success.
‘Professional Speaking for Migrants’ is a fantastic course for former migrants who have a decent grasp of the English language but need to develop presentation skills for employment and Professional Development. The course covers PowerPoint presentations, phone presentation, front of office presentation, and prepared readings.
