Visits help mums with reading in English and build confidence using the library. They also enable mums to take their children along to learn crafts and to encourage reading to children as a daily activity.
Gina, from Cannons Creek Library, has been very welcoming. She's shared a story or three, sung songs with the group and always has fun activities planned.
During their visits the group always welcomes ideas for keeping children busy and engaged; they learnt how to make little mice using old magazines; they coloured in some pictures and they made beautiful birds - a lovely crafty inspiring idea!
Unfortunately, Gina is leaving, heading back to her home town of Dunedin to be near her family. The students will miss Gina greatly and showed their appreciation by making cards in class and going on a visit to the library to present these along with a speech of appreciation from Paw Chit.
