But this lockdown we decided to find the funny side of it.
We thought about all the challenges we had faced while usingZoom to learn and we turned them into a "movie". Each learner had different struggles, such as using Zoom functions, understanding Zoom etiquette, managing children during class time, slow internet, and dealing with the physical effects of concentrating on such a tiny screen.
I wish we recorded our rehearsal session for the video. While Htoo Gay strummed his guitar, Bialine bursted into a spontaneous English song singing "We don't like lockdown... oooooo... We don't like lockdown..." And others began to join in. We lost the plot with laughter. It was a great way to shake off some Covid tension.
So, we transformed our complaints into a constructive and creative outlet.
Learners had to be really onto it and listen carefully to each other to pick up on cues for when their turn came up. The teacher had to learn how to "direct the movie" using the spotlight feature (which was far from perfect as you'll see!?). At the end, we added some snippets of a "find the..." game we played occasionally. This was for a bit of fun, but also so learners could see what the teacher sees on her screen. Seta did an excellent job of editing the video and added some fancy features.
Maybe you can relate to some of the things we mention. Hope you enjoy our comic relief video!
