Awng San came to NZ from Myanmar in 2017 as a refugee and worked really hard to improve his English. Tho Vo is an ESOL home tutor with ELP Wellington who has supported Awang San. They became friends during the two years they worked together.
Awng San has now successfully completed his Level 3 Health and Wellbeing at WELTEC and is working at a retirement village as a wellness partner!
As he is new to the job, Awang San is still getting used to working with patients who have many different needs. This demanding job is helped by having a super-supportive team who are like a family to him.
Awng San recently joined an English for Employees class to help him develop the language he needs for workplace tasks, such as completing follow up notes and reports on the computer and communicating confidently with his clients and team.
He loves talking to people and wants to be able to talk, talk, talk at work and elsewhere so he is waiting to be partnered with another ESOL home tutor as well.
Awng San is such an inspiring learner who will not stop learning. He aims to study Wellness and Health at Level 4 and progress his career in caregiving.
Awng San definitely has the skills, warm personality and drive to achieve any of his goals!
