Support your community and volunteer as a home tutor. We provide free training and match you with a learner.
With your support we can provide free lessons to migrants and people with a refugee background. You are helping people in your community learn practical English so they can live, study and work in New Zealand.
Training for ESOL home tutor volunteers will be held at the Level 1, 3091 Great North Road, New Lynn on the following dates:
Course 1 - 2025
Pre-course Online: Tuesday 18th February, 6pm-7pm
Day 1: Saturday 22nd February, 10am-4pm
Day 2: Saturday 1st Mar, 10am-4pm
Day 3: Saturday 8th Mar, 10am-4pm
Learner meetings will start after Day 3
Day 4: Saturday 5th April, 10am-12pm
Follow-up session (after you have met your learner and started tutoring)
Day 5: Saturday 17th May, 1:30-3:30pm or Wednesday 21st May, 5:30-7:30pm

This programme is for people who pre-paid Immigration New Zealand for English lessons before they arrived in the country. An experienced, qualified teacher visits your home for lessons. You can decide on your personal learning goals with your teacher. Each lesson is designed to help you progress at your own speed.
