English classes for your employees

We teach Kiwi workplace culture and language to equip your workers with the skills to communicate confidently at work.

English for your workplace

Communication is key to your business running smoothly and efficiently. We equip workers with the skills to communicate well with customers and colleagues, and to function safely and confidently at work. We offer flexible courses for employees and apprentices. Alternatively, we can design a business contract or adapt a workplace English learning course specific to your business needs.

English for Employees

English for Employees is a free, part-time English course for employees who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents with low levels of English.

The course teaches practical English for work, including how to communicate in social situations and how to read and understand health and safety information.

Workers learn with experienced and qualified teachers, in small and friendly groups.

Class times are flexible. Classes can fit around a learner's work commitments. We teach classes at our centres, online and in the workplace.

There is no cost to the employee or employer.

English for Apprentices

We have a wide range of free, work-based learning courses for apprentices who have New Zealand residence or citizenship.

Courses help apprentices navigate New Zealand workplace language. Topics focus on helping with assessments, professional conversations, understanding health and safety legislation, building codes and more.

Class times are flexible and can fit around a learner’s work commitments. We teach classes at our centres, online and in the workplace. There is no cost to apprentices, or to employers.

Tuition tailored to your needs

We can work with you to design a business contract or adapt a workplace English learning course specific to your business needs. This could cover employees of any immigration status and English level.

Our staff will discuss your workplace learning needs, assess the English level of learners and develop a course to achieve agreed learning goals.

We can deliver the training at a time, location and duration that works for you. Cost may vary based on the number of employees, course hours and preferred course location. Contact your nearest English Language Partners centre today for a free consultation.

David Reid - Fonterra

We contracted ELP to develop the English language and communication skills of one of our talented research staff. Rob was an excellent trainer and employed a variety of effective training strategies over 20 lessons. The end result has been excellent. Thanks!

David Phillips – Steelfort Engineering

Employer

Paying the programme fee is an investment, because ultimately, we’ll benefit too.

Aaron Jeffares – Farm manager – Moondance Farms

Employer

I’ve seen quick progress. Not only have they quickly gained a better understanding of the language, but also about how and why we do things the way we do them.

Sharon FultonBevers – Thermakraft

Employer

One of the major hurdles to overcome was just teaching the shy workers to speak out when they don’t understand.

Abi Buckell – Organisation Development Advisor – WEL Networks

Employer

Our managers say they are seeing better outcomes when staff are talking to customers and working through issues with their peers. There’s more clarity around communication and people are more relaxed.

Nigel Maxey – Fielden Metalworks

Employer

Their English has improved and I think they’re more outgoing for it. We get fewer errors between what was asked and what happens. So it’s helpful.

Geoff Lewis – Tender Tips

Employer

The outcome for the factory has been superb. We have been very pleased with the support we received from ELPNZ. They worked hard to deliver the outcome, and they were extremely willing to be part of the project to help our employees become a success in this work opportunity.
